Jamm for Genes News...

Jamm for Genes goes Virtual

Matthew Davies took Jamm for Genes to a new level for the first time in 2008. This great initiative by Matthew and his band raised over $2,000 from online donations to their virtual gig.

Check out some of the great footage that was a part of the Jamm for Genes gig organised by Matthew Davies aka OhMy Kidd from The Pocket.

Vanessa Amorosi shows her support

Vanessa Amorosi has once again shown her generous support by donating a framed and personally signed photograph of herself which will be up for auction later in 2008 with the funds raised going directly to Jeans for Genes - stay tuned to find out how to bid on this treasure. Previously Vanessa has donated her jeans to the Jeans for Genes art auction that raised $3000 in 2004.

"There are so many worthy charities out there that i'd love to be giving more time to. Jeans for Genes day represents a fantastic example of the energy we need to be putting into our childrens future"

  - Vanessa Amorosi, 2008

Rob Mills joins the team!

Rob spent three years as front man for the Mega Men, eventually becoming one of the most successful pub bands in Melbourne with packed houses at every gig. In 2003, Rob auditioned for Australian Idol . He found himself into the Top 12, on what became the highest rating TV show in history. He was signed to BMG shortly after the Idol Tour and his first single, Ms. Vanity debuted at #6 on the Australian charts, reaching Gold status. His debut album Up All Night was released in June 2004, featuring seven co-written tracks.

Rob embarked on an east coast tour playing to his many fans from Cairns to Melbourne in August and September followed by various performances around town including the Channel 9 AFL Grand Final Breakfast and Carols by Candlelight . In 2005 Rob was host of a brand new TV show called STOOGED for Network Ten. GREASE - The Arena Spectacular was yet another chapter for the many talents of Rob Mills, taking to the stage as the pop star idol "JOHNNY CASINO" Rob delighted audiences around Australia throughout May and June 2005.

After a backpacking trip around Europe in 2006, Rob is back, older, a bit wiser and already on the go with various corporate and music gigs including the lead role of Claude in the Perth production of HAIR in May 2007.

Rob is currently playing his jazz show ROBBED around the country, a night of great contemporary jazz covers and great new arrangements of his own original tracks from his debut album. He joined Channel 9 in June as a host of the late night game show THE MINT... a lot of fun, lots of money to give away and just his hours.

“Im delighted to be involved with the Jamm for Genes Event for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, they are a very important support system for keeping our kids healthy and happy. Looking forward to a year of great events, lots of music and fun.”

- Rob Mills, 2008
