We're used to seeing Jodi Anasta in jaw-dropping gowns on the red carpet but she can certainly rock a pair of jeans too. Anasta donned the denim in support of Jeans for Genes Day, August 7, when people wear their jeans to raise money for the Children's Medical Research Institute. Becoming an ambassador means a lot to the A-lister especially after the birth of her daughter Aleeia.

A former actress, glamorous WAG and now mother, Anasta would understand better than anyone how integral denim has become to our wardrobes. And there have been some exciting developments in this area lately. Somewhere along the line it was decided that skinny jeans were in and all other versions were forgotten.

Fast forward a few eons and we are seriously spoilt for choice; boyfriend jeans, mum and dad jeans, jeans pretty much named after anyone who resembles a close relation, and even more exciting; denim jackets, denim shirts, denim skirts… you get the picture.

With so much to choose from it's no wonder people want to wear it all at once, which brings us to double denim and some other denim trends currently on the radar:
'70s denim
Where to start here? The button down skirt is a must, patchwork denim is huge, and of course flared jeans, with honourable mentions going to the denim maxi dress and the western style shirt. But really if you had to choose it would be the flared jeans, the most wearable and flattering thing to walk off the runways in a long time.

Double denim
Once considered a faux pas this this is now almost a requirement for cool casual dressing. Not a day goes by that a celebrity isn't snapped wearing twice as much. There are no rules here: dark jeans with a chambray shirt work equally as well as faded cropped jeans and a distressed jacket, basically if you own it wear it… all. And why not? It's comfortable, chic and stylish without looking like you've tried to be.

Sleek denim
The denim and blazer combo must be one of the most classic and timeless looks invented (thank you Kate Moss). Although still a winner with your faithful old skinnies there is something more polished and elegant about teaming a blazer with wide legged jeans. This was a hot look on the runways this season and Louis Vuitton particularly nailed the smart casual vibe. The denim shirt-dress is another option that you can wear to brunch, and it's also smart enough for the office.

So flared and fabulous, twice and nice or chic and sleek, pick your look and be sure to flaunt it on August 7.
