Coles staff at Dubbo Square were in denim on Friday, all in support for Jeans for Genes Day.

Every dollar raised helps scientists at Children's Medical Research Institute discover treatments and cures in genetic research, in the aim of giving every child the opportunity to live a long and healthy life.

Every year Coles staff members take part in the event, with each member donating $5 each.

Dubbo Square Coles assistant store manager Anthony Finch said it was great way to support a charity that doe so much for rural and regional children.

"A lot of children and families in our community have to travel long distances to seek treatment," he said.

"By supporting this day we can rally behind a great event."

So far $116,787 has been raised.

Dubbo Square Coles store manager said there was no set target this year, but every donation helped.
