What is Jamm for Genes?
Jamm for Genes is a registered charity fundraiser to support the ongoing research and operations at the internationally renowned genetic research facility, the Children's Medical Research Institute. Live music venues, businesses and schools across Australia will raise money for this great cause.
Who can run a Jamm for Genes event?
Anyone can run a Jamm for Genes event. All you have to do is Register!
Jamm for Genes events are usually held around the weekend of Jeans for Genes Day, Friday 6th August 2010 but you can still hold a Jamm for Genes event anytime throughout the year.
Where is a Jamm for Genes event held?
Jamm for Genes is not one event at one place - it is many events - all across Australia!
Our vision is for every live music event occurring the first weekend in August to participate in Jamm for Genes in some way. Jamm for Genes provides a great opportunity for pubs, restaurants, schools, community, and neighbourhood venues to put on a special Jamm for Genes music event.
Venues, businesses and schools across Australia get involved! Host a Jamm for Genes event and engage the bands, employees, and public in the fundraising.

Why should I get involved?
Chances are you probably know someone who has a genetic disease, because one in twenty children are born with some form of genetic fault. There are children with leukaemia, epilepsy and many other disorders. The scientists at the Children’s Medical Research Institute are working to try to prevent these diseases before they occur in our children, or where that is not possible to develop better treatments.
The money you raise by participating in Jamm for Genes goes towards the work of these scientists. You will have heard about the human genome: we now have the basic outline of our genetic structure. But we don’t yet know how all our genes interact, and there is plenty of work still to be done. This type of research benefits children around the world.
We are very serious about our research, and very grateful to Genies such as you, for without your help we could not continue our quest.
You are part of every discovery we make.
