Jeans for Genes, the major fundraiser of the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the National Privacy Principles as set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This Privacy Policy sets out the CMRI’s information handling practices and procedures. 
We want to provide a safe and secure experience on our website.  The information you provide CMRI remains private and the identity of anyone who contacts us through this website is kept confidential. 

  • We only collect personal information that is necessary for the conduct of our business. 
  • Personal information collected from you may be used for such purposes as processing donations, providing you with receipts and from time to time providing you with information about the work of the CMRI that we think you may be interested in.
  • The type of personal information we collect generally includes your name and contact details such as postal address, email address and telephone number. 
  • We endeavour to ensure that your personal details are accurate, complete and up-to-date at all times.

 Giving you control

  • You can access the information about you that we hold and details of how we collect and use it by contacting us.
  • The CMRI will always try to maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date information with respect to its supporters. 
  • We encourage you to contact us if your details need to be updated or changed. We will then take all reasonable steps to correct your information so that it is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
  • We always provide you with an opportunity to opt-out of receiving future information from the CMRI.  If you do not wish to be contacted by us or to receive information from us, please contact us by telephone or email.

Protecting your information

  • We don’t rent, sell, exchange or disclose any information provided by you to third parties and we won’t provide your personal information to anybody outside this organisation unless authorised by you. 
  • Please note that information may be provided to agents or contractors of the CMRI (e.g. IT or administrative service providers) but those agents or contractors will be under an obligation to keep your information confidential. 
  • We take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information we collect is secure and protected from unauthorised access or disclosure.

Sending to a friend

The send to a friend feature on our website allows you to request that an email message be sent to another person. The following applies to this send to a friend facility:

  • An email will be sent to each recipient’s email address you specify.
  • The sent email will display your name as you entered it, the email address you have nominated as your own and the message you have typed in the message body field.
  • Any information you provide when using this facility will be held in accordance with the CMRI Privacy Policy and will not be held for further purposes in the future.
  • If the recipient of the message replies to the message, the reply will go back to your email address only.
  • If an address provided on the send to a friend form is invalid, or if the email cannot be delivered for other reasons, you may receive a failure notice from a remote mail system in response to the message.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

CMRI may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Complaints

If you have a complaint regarding the way in which your personal information is being handled by us, you should contact us in the first instance. If we are unable to reach a satisfactory solution through negotiation, you may wish to request an independent person to investigate the complaint such as the Privacy Commissioner.
