2008 Jeans for Genes Design Awards - Results

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of both categories of the 2008 Do It With Denim Jeans for Genes Design Awards.  The theme for 2008 celebrated 50 year of the Children’s Medical Research Institute “A Celebration in Gold”.

We would like to thank all designers who entered the competition and also thank our panel of judges for their time and expertise.

WINNER 'Midas Touch'

DRAGANA TEPSA

Dragana’s contemporary and fashionable garment, titled “Midas Touch” , was inspired by Egypt’s 50th Anniversary Celebration of becoming a Republic.

'A Celebration of Life'

TAREE BIRSE

Taree’s design titled “A Celebration of Life” is inspired by the 50th Anniversary of the Children’s Medical Research Institute – a symbol of hope and optimism given to those families who are affected by genetic disorders.

'NASA'

INGRID STEINMETZ 

Ingrid’s garment titled “NASA” was inspired by 50 years of space exploration.  This dress was designed so the silhouette of it is similar to that of a launching rocket.

WINNER 'PEACE'

JACOB WONG 

Jacob’s design, titled “PEACE”, was inspired by the 50th Anniversary of the Nuclear Disarmament Movement Symbol which later became recognized as the “peace” symbol.

'Lego'

KYLE CROWE & KRISTIAN BECKER 

Kyle and Kristian’s design, titled “Lego” was inspired by the celebration of 50 years of Lego in 2008.  “We grew up on Lego which tested our imaginations to build something from nothing!”
