World's Largest Gathering of People in jeans on Jeans for Genes Day

How many Melbournians can squeeze into one pair of jeans?

Come along to Federation Square on Friday August 7 and find out!

As part of the national celebrations for Jeans for Genes Day 2009, Friday August 7, Melbournians of all ages are being asked to wear their jeans and take part in the “World’s Largest Gathering of People in Jeans for Genes Day” at Federation Square from 12 noon to 2pm.

The event will be hosted by Channel 7’s Rebecca Maddern and will feature a celebrity fashion parade of fabulous denim creations made by local designers and Jeans For Genes groovy gear to raise money for Jeans for Genes Day. AFL footballers, Neighbours stars and many more will don their jeans for the parade on the day.

As the crowd swells, everyone in jeans and blue poncho’s will be rallied together to form a gigantic pair of ‘human jeans’ to raise awareness of children with genetic disorders and promote the work of Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI).

Jeans for Genes Day supporter Shelley Craft, host of Channel 9’s Domestic Blitz and Australia’s Funniest Home Videos, urges all Melbournians to get down to Federation Square on the day and support the vital work of the CMRI in making a difference to the lives of Australian children and their families.

So, on Friday August 7, “Denimstrate You Care” by coming to Federation Square, wear your jeans, give a donation, or buy a badge to support Jeans for Genes Day. And, stake your place in the history books and get on down to Federation Square at lunch time.
